VOLVO V60 Plug-In Hybrid review
NGC verdict 20.11.2013On the basis of this test the technology doesn't yet deliver anywhere near enough benefits for its cost. Who would spend nearly £50,000 on a hybrid when you can get the same diesel engine for £34,745 or a 115bhp version for £22,495? On journeys over ten miles it becomes a diesel car carrying unnecessary extra weight.
It would be interesting to see how the car operates in snowy conditions with all four wheels powered. How effectively does Volvo moderate the instant torque from the electric motor to the rear wheels to avoid skids? You wonder how many plug-in V60s Volvo think they will sell when they don't even list the car on the journalists' Newspress website? Only committed environmentalists with narrowly defined motoring needs, and deep pockets will consider this car.
