Pricing announced for GMW Ora Funky Cat

UK pricing and specifications have been revealed for the Ora Cat, which will start at £30,495 at launch, including the UK Plug-in Car Grant.

The Funky Cat will kick off with a First Edition model, and is expected to go on sale in autumn, with deliveries soon after.

Well received at the car’s UK public debut at Fully Charged Live 2022 in April, the Ora Funky Cat will have a range of 193 miles available from a 48 kWh battery and 126 kW motor.

This pitches the Funky Cat in between the Nissan Leaf range, costing the same as a top of the range Leaf with 40 kWh battery but offering more range, and costing less than the Leaf e+ which will go further on a charge but costs a few thousand more.

Charging is possible at up to 11 kW AC on three-phase supply, or 6.6 kW on single-phase. DC charging is available at up to 80 kW on CCS units. This means a 15-80% charge on a typical home point will take 5-6 hours, while a high-power rapid charge will take around 40 minutes.

Specifications for the First Edition model include adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, LED headlights, 18-inch alloys, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charging, and electric front seats. Ora is backing the Cat range with a five year, unlimited mileage warranty, and the battery is covered for eight years/100,000 miles.

Additional models will arrive, with a 63 kWh model expected in due course which would up range to more than 260 miles on a charge.

More than 6,000 expressions of interest have been made by potential customers, and Ora will set up a “Queue Jump” scheme in June, which will allow people to reserve a place in the order queue for a refundable £100 deposit.
