Subaru announces all-electric model for Europe

Subaru has been rather quiet on the electric front but that’s all about to change with an all-electric SUV for Europe. This is in response to the growing demand for alternative powertrains in Europe.

This new SUV model will be around the same size as the Subaru Forester and will be built on a platform shared with Toyota. While we don’t know the specifics about this model just yet, more information will be released next year for the car that will launch sometime in the mid-2020s.

Subaru already has mild hybrid variants of two of its core vehicles in Europe, the Subaru XV e-Boxer and Forester e-Boxer. These models represent 60% of sales in Europe, which just goes to show the demand from buyers.

It’s likely the new Subaru will be called the Evoltis, which was teased earlier this year. Subaru gave a briefing in Tokyo with a preview of the car, saying it’ll have a range of about 500 kilometres.
