23.9.2020Range Rover Velar P400e PHEV launched
Land Rover has released the Velar P400e - a plug-in hybrid version of its mid-sized SUV. The Velar PHEV will cover up to 33 miles on electric power alone, with CO2 emissions rated at 49 g/km.
Following on from last week's reveal of the Land Rover Defender - and sister firm Jaguar's F-Pace - the new Velar means all but the Discovery is available as a plug-in hybrid in the current line-up.
Powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine and 105 kW electric motor, the Velar produces a combined 404 hp and 640 Nm of torque. The 0-62 mph time is completed in just 5.1 seconds, and official fuel economy figures come in at 130.2 MPG.
The electric motor is powered by a 17.1 kWh battery, which can be charge to 80% in half an hour thanks to the CCS inlet fitted to the Velar P400e - DC charging can be carried out at up to 32 kW. Using AC charging, the on-board charger allows for a time of 1 hour 40 minutes from a 7 kW unit.
Prices start at £56,560 for the new Range Rover Velar P400e, and orders are being taken now.
