26.8.2020Renault launches E-Tech Captur and Megane PHEVs
Renault has launched the Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid and Megane E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid models in the UK, with both PHEVs now available to order.
The Captur E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid and Megane E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid both use a 9.8 kWh battery, able to be charged at up to 3.6 kW. This allows for a range of up to 30 miles on a charge for both models, and CO2 emissions of 30 g/km.
A free home charge point is available with both PHEV models, and a B mode is fitted to the gear selector for increased brake energy recuperation.
Renault has made much of both its expertise in electric vehicles and the electric elements developed by its Formula 1 team, to aid efficiency and boost performance.
Prices and specifications for the new E-Tech PHEV models have been confirmed, along with the new Clio E-Tech Hybrid (conventional).
The E-Tech system is shared across the three models, with two electric motors sharing propulsion duties with a 1.6 litre petrol engine. The key difference between E-Tech Hybrid and E-Tech Plug-in Hybrid models is the size of the battery - the Hybrid has a 1.6 kWh pack - and obviously the addition of external recharging for the latter vehicles.
Captur E-Tech prices start at £30,495, with first deliveries expected in October. The Megane E-Tech's price is almost identical at £30,685, though first deliveries aren't expected until a month later. Both are available to order now.
