8.5.2020Skoda Enyaq iV to feature range of battery and motor options
Skoda has revealed specification details of its forthcoming Enyaq iV. The pure-electric SUV will be available with a choice of five power variants, with three battery capacities on offer, and ultra-rapid charging capabilities.
The headline range is a figure up to 311 miles on a single charge, though other specifications will provide shorter distances.
The entry-level Enyaq iV 50 features a 55 kWh battery (52 kWh net), and uses a rear-mounted 109 kW electric motor for a range of up to 211 miles.
This increases to a range of 242 miles on a charge for the Enyaq IV 60, which uses a 62 kWh battery (58 kWh net) and 132 kW motor. The rear-wheel drive Enyaq iV 80 uses a 150 kW motor and 82 kWh battery (77 kWh net) for the 311 mile range above.
However, there will also be two all-wheel drive models which use the same 82 kWh battery - the 80X and vRS. The former uses a motor on each axle for a combined 195 kW, while the latter is a performance model with two motors combining for 225 kW.
The top of the range Enyaq iV vRS will complete the 0-62mph sprint in just 6.2 seconds, and the range of both all-wheel drive variants is up to 286 miles on a charge.
An 11 kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, allowing for maximum use of 7 kW home and public charge points, and boosting charging performance a little further when plugged into 11 kW or 22 kW chargers - typically public or workplace units. Ultra-rapid DC charging is possible at up to 125 kW via the CCS inlet.
Inside, Skoda is promising its Enyaq iV will continue to use the company's Simply Clever ethos. This means the Enyaq iV is likely to become one of the most practical family cars on the road judging by current crossover and SUV efforts from the Czech manufacturer.
Production will start at the end of 2020, with launch scheduled for early 2021. Further details on trim and UK pricing will be revealed closer to launch.
