Polestar 2 makes Geneva debut

Polestar's second model - the imaginatively titled 2 - was unveiled to the world last week at an on-line event, but got its show debut at Geneva.

The stylish pure-electric crossover saloon has a range of more than 300 miles, and will challenge premium electric rivals from the likes of Tesla, Jaguar, and Audi.

A 78 kWh battery powers two electric motors - one on each axle - producing 300 kW (408hp) and 660 Nm of torque. Polestar's target range is 500km on the WLTP tests, which equates to more than 310 miles. Performance sees a 4.7 second 0-62mph time.

Charging can be carried out at up to 150 kW on a CCS rapid point, and includes features such as digital keys on smartphones, and the car will start up as soon as the driver is seated, using sensors in the seats rather than a traditional key, switch, or button.

Set to be available with Polestar's Performance Pack - which includes gold accents and up-rated suspension & brakes - the Polestar 2 will also feature a vegan interior. A comprehensive suite of safety systems will be fitted, though that should come as no surprise considering Polestar is Volvo's electric/performance brand.

Online orders are open, with reservations being taken now. Prices are not yet confirmed, but prices around the £40,000 to £50,000 mark are expected.
