VW I.D Vizzion launched at Geneva

Volkswagen has unveiled the I.D. Vizzion at the Geneva Motor Show, previewing a flagship model for the EV line-up due in 2022.

Fully-autonomous, the premium saloon is has a driving range of more than 300 miles on a single charge, thanks to a 111 kWh battery.

Two electric motors provide 225 kW for all-wheel drive, with a 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds possible.

Measuring more than five meters long, the interior benefits from packaging design that frees up space thanks to no need for a large engine anywhere. As such, lounge-like seating for four is provided, along with a suite of high-tech systems.

Voice and gesture commands control the car, an AI system acts as a personal assistant, augmented reality is used for the interactive ‘surfaces’, and the I.D. Vizzion scans faces of those approaching the car to open doors for them and set up personal preferences,

Although due in 2022, the I.D. line-up will launch in 2020 with the I.D. - followed closely behind by the I.D Cross and I.D. Buzz. The main stage on the VW stand at Geneva has all four I.D models lined up, an indication of their importance to the brand.
