Suzuki Ignis set for Paris launch

Suzuki is set to launch the Ignis in Europe following a planned debut at the Paris Motor Show next month. The city car crossover will complement Suzuki's small car range, and is set to be offered with a mild hybrid option.

Fitted with Suzuki's SVHS hybrid technology - as first seen on the Baleno - the Ignis will use an integrated starter/generator to assist the engine when it is under high load. This is used to capture energy under braking to then be used during the start process of engine stop/start, and also to assist the unit under acceleration.

Built on a new lightweight platform, the stylish Ignis is due to go on sale in January 2017, though prices and specifications are yet to be announced.

A face-lifted version of Suzuki's S-Cross crossover will also be unveiled in Paris, with new 1.0 litre and 1.4 litre BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engines replacing the old 1.6 litre unit.
