XL1 running for 'Design of the Year' 2014

The Volkswagen XL1 is in the running for the overall Design of the Year 2014 award after winning in the Transport Category.

Having recently claimed top accolade in the Transport Category at the Design of the Year awards the plug-in hybrid VW XL1 is now bidding to be the overall winner.

With its energy efficient and futuristic design it combines style and practicality, which has made it a favorite here at Next Green Car.

The world's most fuel efficient car is currently on display at the Design Museum in London amongst 76 designs in 7 different categories.

The exhibit runs till the 25th August before which the overall 2014 Design of the Year will be crowned from the winners of each category on June 30th. The XL1 will be in direct competition with the victors from Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphic and Product.

The XL1 is already in limited production and offers an impressive 313mpg whilst only emitting 26g/km of CO2.
