29.12.2017Top 10 Green Cars 2018 - Part 2
Next Green Car takes a look at the year ahead, picking out the best and most exciting green cars due to be launched in 2018. Here are two new crossover/SUVs that look set to help move the EV market on in a big way.
3 – Hyundai Kona EV
An all-electric version of the Kona is confirmed for production, and has all the attributes to quickly become one of the best selling electric cars in the UK. The compact crossover market is thriving, so for Hyundai to have a pure-EV available in the sector with no direct rivals could see the Kona EV sell like the proverbial toasty warm sweet baked goods.
A range of more than 200 miles will pitch it against the EV market leaders from the off, which will help tempt more buyers into EV ownership who hadn't previously looked at it seriously.
4 – Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar's first entry into the EV market will be with the I-Pace - not a bad way to kick things off at all. A real-world range of more than 300 miles is promised following prototype testing, and the I-Pace will go straight in as one of the most desirable EVs on sale when it is launched.
Developments have been coming through thick and fast thanks to Jaguar's involvement in Formula E, and the I-Pace will be used in a one-make race series to support the all-electric championship to add further lustre to its appeal. Managing to look both like a Jaguar and like no Jaguar seen before, the British manufacturer looks like it's got a winner on its hands with the I-Pace.
