Using the FORD Transit Plug-in Hybrid fuel cost calculator
The fuel cost calculator enables you to calculate the expected fuel costs over a specified mileage for your FORD Transit Plug-in Hybrid.
The calculator defaults to Real MPG, current fuel prices and 10,000 annual miles. All these data elements are editable so that you can ensure the results reflect your driving pattern.
The results show cost per mile, weekly, monthly and annual fuel costs for your FORD Transit Plug-in Hybrid based on your figures. There is also the facility for you to see the impact on your fuel costs if you vary the fuel price per litre (or electricity price /kW)
If you would like to compare more than one model, use the main Fuel Cost Calculator tool.
How we calculate fuel costs
Fuel cost is calculated by multiplying a vehicle's real-world fuel economy by fuel price and the distance driven. For petrol, diesel and all-electric vehicles, real-world fuel use is estimated using official test data together with correction factors generated by vehicles driven on real roads.
The calculation for plug-in hybrids is more complex, as they can be simultaneously powered by electricity and petrol or diesel. For the real-world estimate of fuel costs for PHEVs, the default calculation assumes that the vehicle is driven for half the distance in EV-mode and half using a conventional fuel.
