Next Green Car – Awards - NGC Car of the Year 2016

NGC Car of the Year WINNER
Hyundai Ioniq – CO2 0-79 g/km – NGC Rating 22-29

The Hyundai Ioniq wins the NGC Car of the Year Award 2016 against some exceptional competition. While the last 12 months has seen a number of new models come onto the market, the Ioniq takes the prize for its quality design, exceptional handling and its high fuel performance.

In addition, the Ioniq range has been intentionally designed as an electric power-train family offered in three options: pure electric and conventional hybrid, with a plug-in hybrid option due for release next year. The ability for customers to choose the electric power-train that best fits their driving requirements is a great advance, and a route we hope other manufacturers will follow.

NGC verdict: "The new Ioniq's design philosophy is pitch-perfect in delivering a range of low emission, stylish and practical family cars. Full marks to Hyundai for offering a choice of three electric and hybrid powertrains, all of which combine performance with affordability."

"We are very pleased to receive both of these awards from Next Green Car. It is particularly satisfying to hear the judge's verdicts commending Ioniq Electric for it's all round abilities, as it underlines what we already know; that for our customers, the complete vehicle package is just as important as Ioniq's zero emission performance."
