About us
Nextgreencar.com – the buyer's guide to economical and environmentally friendly cars.
Nextgreencar.com's mission is to help car buyers make the transition from a petrol or diesel car (or "fossil car") to an electric car. With the upcoming 2030 ban on sales of petrol and diesel cars, this will increasingly become a major consideration for all car buyers.
Established in 2007, the site provides electric car buying guides, information on charging, electric car reviews and the latest news on electric vehicles. To support this, the data-driven website includes information on all new and used cars commercially available in the UK since 2001. Using nextgreencar.com’s digital tools, car buyers can compare fossil cars and electric cars to understand the real running-cost savings, tax differences and emission reductions from making the switch.
All results are ranked according to the unique Next Green Car Rating, which expresses a vehicle's environmental impact as a score out of 100 ranging from 0 for the greenest vehicles to 100+ for the most polluting, and allows for a fair comparison across technologies and fuel types.
A key element of switching to an electric car is the change in "fuelling" patterns, shifting from petrol stations to both charging at home and at thousands of public charge points across the UK. To this end, in 2012, the nextgreencar.com team started tracking public electric car charging points and developed Zap-Map, the UK's leading app and digital platform for EV drivers.
Zap-Map

Zap-Map enables EV drivers to search for charge points, plan longer journeys, pay on participating networks and share updates with other EV drivers.
With 95%+ of public charge points mapped and around 70% of charge points showing live availability status, Zap-Map provides EV drivers with peace of mind and the confidence to drive any length of journey in their EV.
Zap-Map attracts more than 180,000 UK users per month from a rapidly growing fleet of EV drivers. As the go-to data source for the industry, check Zap-Map for the latest stats plus news, info and tools for current and prospective EV drivers.
