LEXUS IS review

NGC verdict 24.04.2014

Lexus has now abandoned diesel power for its IS saloon range but thanks to petrol-electric hybrid technology it can offer real world fuel consumption of 39 to 54 mpg and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km for the hybrid F Sport and 99 g/km for the SE version.

Though at its best in towns and suburbs when the assistance of the electric motor is best felt in terms of performance and quietness, the IS 300h is a credible alternative to diesel power from the German 'big three' manufacturers and is a relaxed motorway cruiser. The latest styling gives the Lexus much needed personality without some of the more garish touches now on some models to attract attention. Some drivers might still find the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) irritating.
