Audi e-tron available to order in UK

Order books are now open in the UK for the Audi e-tron, due for launch later this year, with buyers requiring a £1,000 deposit to secure their new EV.

Set to compete against the Jaguar I-Pace in terms of price, prestige, and driving range, the all-electric SUV can be ordered online or at any Audi centre across the UK.

The deposit grants priority order access to Audi's first production EV, which was teased at the Geneva Motor Show, before launch towards the end of the year.

In the meantime, 250 prototypes are set to cover more than three million miles of testing on four continents to prepare the model for production. A range of around 300 miles has been quoted previously, and Audi said in the announcement that deposits were being taken, that "It will offer a driving range that is favourably comparable with a conventionally powered equivalent".

The Audi will also be capable of ultra-rapid charging, at speeds of up to 150kW where charging unit permits, allowing for a 0-80% charge in less than 30 minutes, adding a couple of hundred miles to the car's range.

Deposits will be offset against the final purchase price, and are fully-refundable at any time. Any deposits taken also see those placing them given access to a Priority Order Members Club, which will provide regular updates, invitations to special events, and access to competitions.
