20.4.2017MG returns to sportscar roots with E-motion concept EV
MG could be back on the road to building desirable cars again with the E-motion Concept on show at the Shanghai Auto Show. The stylish sportscar features a pure-electric powertrain, capable of travelling more than 300 miles on a single charge.
Reports from the motor show say that MG's bosses are so happy with the concept's feedback that it is likely to go into production, will cost less than £30,000, and could be available by 2020.
Bringing back MG's legendary sportscar heritage, the E-motion boasts a 0-62mph time of less than four seconds, and the car will be as modern as can be, with digital instrument clusters and touchscreen controls.
Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing at MG Motor UK, said: "The MG E-motion electric supercar concept demonstrates our global vision for the future. Alongside leading the way in design and capability, the next-generation model is the latest step in achieving the ultimate driving experience.
"The Shanghai International Automotive Show highlights our progress and capabilities, while further new models will continue this future-thinking strategy, embracing innovation to deliver ground-breaking vehicles for the drivers of tomorrow."
