20.12.2012 EST offers free winter driving advice

EST offers free winter driving advice

The Energy Saving Trust has produced a free guide to help you get to your destination as safely and as efficiently as possible, despite the miserable winter weather.

With winter upon us, driving conditions start to get dangerous. According to the Department for Transport over 15,000 accidents (300 fatal) were caused last year alone by slippery roads, impaired vision or inappropriate driving in bad weather.

While the best thing to do is avoid driving altogether in adverse conditions, there are times when you have no choice but to make your journey by car.

Fortunately, the Energy Saving Trust transport team is here to help. They have produced a handy free Smart Winter Driving Guide which includes advice on:
* How to prepare yourself for your journey
* What to take with you
* How to maintain good control of your vehicle in poor conditions
* Key smarter driving techniques
* How to make your fuel go further

In addition to the safety benefits, smarter driving techniques can save up to 15% on your fuel bill and since Christmas may have already taken its toll on your bank account, the last thing you want is to spend more money than necessary on fuel. So if you’re driving a long way to see your family this Christmas the benefits of taking precautions for winter driving could be substantial.

To receive your free copy of the Energy Saving Trust Safe and Smart Winter Driving Guide call the Trust to speak with specially trained staff who can also discuss your winter driving needs with you to give you tailored advice to suit your individual requirements.

To contact the EST transport advice line, phone 0845 602 1425 or 029 2047 5985 or email transport@est.org.uk.
