26.11.2012 Fiat to debut electric 500e at LA Auto Show

Fiat has released pictures of their new all-electric 500e, based on the highly successful 500 citycar, prior to its official unveiling at this month’s LA Auto Show.
Expected to be powered by a 75kW (100bhp) electric motor and powered by a lithium ion battery pack, the 500e will go on sale first in the US in 2013.
The exterior is almost the same as that of the regular Fiat 500, the main changes being the addition of affront end skirt to reduce air resistance, with the alloy wheels being fitted with low-resistance tyres.
Inside, the 500e sports a white and orange colour scheme, a revised instrument cluster and push buttons in place of the conventional car’s gearlever.
Fiat are among a host of manufacturers who are using the LA Auto Show to launch their new models including Jaguar Land Rover with three new products (the high-performance Jaguar XFR-S, the Jaguar F-TYPE, and the world’s first all-aluminium SUV, the new Range Rover), and Toyota who will unveil the all new RAV4 prior to the launch of the car in the UK in early 2013.
The 2012 LA Auto Show will host some of the industry's most important new vehicle debuts and set the tone for the rest of the year. Next Green Car will be covering the event bring you news of all the key new low-emissions models being shown for the first time.
