5.7.2012 Citroen DS5 emissions reduced to 99g/km

Citroen has announced the availability of a number of new options on selected DS5 hybrid models, including alterations that bring the CO2 emissions figure under 100 g/km.

The new option of 17 inch alloy wheels for DS5 DStyle and DSport Hybrid4 models brings CO2 emissions from 107 to 99 g/km, which means lower ownership costs.

The Citroen DS5 is the brand's first production model to feature Hybrid4 full diesel hybrid technology. From July, 17-inch 'Houston' alloy wheels are available as a no-cost option on Hybrid4 DStyle and DSport versions.

These smaller diameter alloy wheels reduce the cars' CO2 emissions to 99g/km – the same as the entry-level DSign Hybrid4 model. At 99g/km both models are exempt from the London congestion charge (http://www.nextgreencar.com/congestioncharge.php) and the BiK tax rate reduces from 12 to just 10%. It also means complete exemption from VED road tax, meaning that the overall running costs of the DS5 are much lower.

The DS5 has just received a commended award in the Next Green Car 2012 Awards, for the fact that its innovative hybrid system brings low emissions figures to the large family vehicle class, without compromise to performance. For £27,600 on the road, the spacious DS5 offers low running costs, with 200 bhp, 4X4 option and the availability of all-electric, zero emission motoring. It uses the same Hybrid4 powertrain that was first adopted in the Peugeot 3008 – the first production diesel hybrid model in the UK.

Citroen has also confirmed two new Signature packs for DS5 HDi 160 DStyle & DSport models. The Sport Signature and Dark Sport Signature packs are priced at £650 and bring lowered suspension, black door mirrors and grey or black 19-inch 'Cairns' alloy wheels for the Sport Signature and Dark Sport Signature respectively.

Returning 74 mpg means that the DS costs around 8.5 pence per mile to run – which, for its size, is very economical. The 99 g/km version of the DS5 has been given a Next Green Car rating of 38.
