30.8.2011 E.ON saves CO2 with Fiesta ECOnetic

Home energy advisors working for E.ON will be driving new Ford Fiesta 1.6-litre TDCi ECOnetic hatchbacks this year, thanks to a new delivery of 340 cars.
These fuel-efficient, low-CO2 models provide much improved transport for the consultants, who advise and help customers to save money and be more energy efficient.
E.ON is amongst the leading green energy providers in the UK, and currently operates a fleet of 4,100 cars and light commercial vehicles – 64% of which are Fords. The 340 new Fiestas replace previous generation Fiesta models which have been part of the E.ON fleet for the past three years.
The ECOnetic technologies are the result of a sustained drive to create highly fuel-efficient vehicles which don't compromise the driving experience. The Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetic offers fuel economy of 78.5 mpg on a combined cycle, and CO2 emissions of just 95 g/km. This sub 100 g/km CO2 figure means that the Fiesta is exempt from road tax and places it amongst the most fuel-efficient five-seater cars on the UK market.
The new vehicles are expected to cover around 20,000 miles each year, and E.ON's policy means replacement of vehicles now happens every four years. This means that, due to high fuel efficiency and low CO2 output, E.ON will be able to make considerable economic and environmental savings over their time with the Fiestas.
Nina Hughes, Fleet Development Manager, Business Services, said, "We have had good feedback from the drivers of our Ford Fiestas, and the lower CO2 emissions of the new Fiesta ECOnetic models will help us deliver on our lower emissions policy as well as providing reduced fuel consumption."
"As a company we have an overall fleet CO2 reduction target of 40% by the year 2020, having achieved reductions exceeding 10% a year, since 2008. We are expecting these Ford cars to further help in achieving our goal."
Standard specification for the Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetic includes air conditioning, electric/heated mirrors, front electric windows, MP3/CD player, ABS, multiple airbags, traction control, electronic stability programme, immobiliser and remote central locking.
With both lots of equipment and impressive fuel consumption figures, the Fiesta is likely to be attractive to many business users. With CO2 emissions at just 95 g/km, BIK rate for company car use is just 13%, and it will be exempt from paying London’s Congestion Charge.
