Renault delivers first UK Fluence electrics

One month ahead of UK showroom launch, Renault has delivered its first Fluence Z.E. saloons to London's largest eco-friendly car services, greentomatocars and Climatecars.

Each company are receiving two of the five-seat all-electric saloons in metallic silver. The Fluence Z.E. will be London's first 100% electric private hire car with a range of up to 115 miles on a single charge.

Today's news is doubly impressive given the recent supply of six Kangoo Van Z.E.s to ISS Facility Services for a Transport for London contract to clean Victoria Coach Station, 44 bus stations and 64 bus stands across the capital, made just two weeks ago. This will translate to a saving of 5.3 tonnes of CO2 over four years, when compared to the class leading Euro V diesel version of the Kangoo van, as well as helping to reduce pollution to improve air quality.

Offering a serene driving and passenger experience thanks to its impressive refinement, well-appointed interior and silent ride, the Fluence Z.E. is the second of Renault's four-strong Z.E. electric vehicles to reach the market. The ZOE and Twizy models are set to grace British streets later in the year.

All four Fluence Z.E.'s will be based in Central London, with both companies ensuring their costs and electricity usage are minimised through charging via the Source London network and their own in-house charging points. They will be exempt from both VED road tax and London's Congestion Charge.

Co-Founder and Managing Director of greentomatocars, Jonny Goldstone, commented, "We're delighted to have taken delivery of our first fully Electric Vehicles and have already taken bookings for 40% of our EV capacity with orders from corporate customers for Zero Emission shuttle services. We fully intend to add more Zero Emission vehicles to our 250-strong fleet this year."

Nicko Williamson, founder and MD of Climatecars said, "The addition of the fully electric Renault Fluence Z.E. to Climatecars fleet marks a crucial step towards our aim of being the world's first zero emission car service. We are really excited to have partnered with Renault and are looking forward to offering a 100% electric car service to our customers. Climatecars electric vehicle fleet will be operating in Central London and will be priced at the same level as our normal hybrid fleet".

Commenting on the project, Thierry Sybord, Managing Director, Renault UK, said, "Renault is the only company to be offering a full range of electric vehicles. We're charging ahead with the launch of the first Z.E. models and have great ambitions for them. Fluence Z.E. will be the perfect way to be transported around the urban and suburban sprawl of the nation's capital in refined and reliable electric style. I hope Climatecars and Green Tomato Cars, as well as their clients enjoy their Z.E. experience."
