16.1.2012 EcoVelocity motor show due in May 2012

Following the successful launch of the UK's first eco motor show EcoVelocity in 2011, the show's organisers, IGME, have announced details for year two.
The show will move from its inaugural launch location of Battersea Power Station to ExCeL, London – and will run from May 10th through to May 13th 2012.
Giles Brown, managing director of organisers IGME Ltd commented, "EcoVelocity got off to a fabulous start at Battersea Power Station, and really stood out from other car events. The show featured 17 of the leading low carbon automotive brands and between them 7,000 test drives were taken during the event by enthusiastic show visitors."
He added, "To take the event to the next level, we had to move to a world-class venue, with scope to substantially increase test drive opportunities which were at full capacity during the launch event. ExCel is an outstanding venue, and with nearly 500,000 attending the British Motor Show in 2008, we know how popular it was with both the industry and general public."
"We looked very carefully at dates for the event and concluded that we didn't want to lose our marketing messages alongside the Olympics, and decided that May would be a great time for the event."
EcoVelocity 2012 will see car makers show their ever growing green car models including electric cars, hybrid cars and very low carbon petrol and diesel cars. The car makers will allow visitors to get up close and personal by offering test drives on a special test drive circuit.
The UK car industry was quick to praise EcoVelocity following its launch in September. Next Green Car also found the show a great success and admired it for being the first major UK event where members of the public can see and test-drive such an extensive range of electric and hybrid vehicles, as well a low carbon conventional vehicles and much, much more.
Nick Reilly, President General Motors Europe commented, "It's pioneering; EcoVelocity is the start of something that's going to become very, very big!"
Neville Staines, National Events Manager for Citroen added, "EcoVelocity proved to be a big success for Citroen, with more than 440 test drives completed over the 4-days. We also took a considerable number of high quality sales leads, with interest not just in C-Zero (our full electric car but also for our full range of low emission vehicles. Considering this was the first time the show has taken place, I could not be happier with the results."
