20.9.2011 Next Green Car sponsors LowCVP Award

Next Green Car is sponsoring the 'Low Carbon Road Transport Initiative of the Year 2011' award; one of a total of nine awards that are to be presented.
As one of the sponsors of the LowCVP's second Low Carbon Champion Awards, Next Green Car is proud to support and encourage progression in the low carbon transport sector.
Held in association with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Low Carbon Champions Awards will be presented at a gala reception on 14th November in Westminster. Bookings are now being taken for the Awards reception and an afternoon seminar, entitled 'Moving to a life-cycle assessment of vehicle emissions'.
There are seven categories for the Awards, reflecting the diversity of those engaged in encouraging the shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels; there will also be two special awards.
The Awards are:
* Low Carbon Car / Van Manufacturer of the Year
* Low Carbon Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year
* Low Carbon Vehicle Operator of the Year
* Low Carbon Fuel Supplier of the Year
* 2011 Award for Low Carbon Innovation by an SME
* Low Carbon Road Transport Initiative of the Year
* 2011 Outstanding Low Carbon Publication or Report
The two additional special awards are:
* Outstanding Individual in Promoting Lower Carbon Transport
* Outstanding Achievement in Low Carbon Transport
The winners will be assessed by a panel of expert judges which have been selected from the LowCVP's wide range of stakeholder organisations (including Next Green Car). The final results will be presented at One Birdcage Walk, Westminster; the keynote speaker will be Tony Juniper – a campaigner, writer, sustainability adviser and former Director of Friends of the Earth International.
The full agenda for the day will be published shortly, but places are limited and early booking is advised. The day will be free for LowCVP and iMechE members, but will cost £75 for non-members.
Winners of last year's Awards included TfL London Bus Service, Go Ahead London, Greenergy International. Oxford YASA Motors, LeasePlan UK, Commercial Group, Iveco and BMW Group.
Greg Archer, the LowCVP's Managing Director said, "The LowCVP Low Carbon Champion Awards demonstrate excellence in moving forward the low carbon agenda in transport. The Awards provide an important way of acknowledging outstanding achievement and providing an example to peers and the wider community."
There are still opportunities for both Awards nominations and sponsorship; for both the deadline is 30th September.
